Dermaplaning is a manual method of exfoliation, that removes dead skin cells and vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). A small surgical scalpel is used to gently scrape the top layer of dulling dead skin cells, leaving your skin brighter smoother and softer.
Dermaplaning is a favorite in the entertainment industry, specifically amoung models and actresses.
Dermaplaning is a painless procedure, there is no down/recovery time, it allows for greater penetration of skincare products, it eliminates peach fuzz and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. Dermaplaning is safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels (peels penetrate skin to act at the cellular level, in which case ELEMIS skin care products would be used instead of AHA skin care). Dermaplaning cleverly triggers the cell regeneration process, to improve the appearance of acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.
One of the most common misconceptions about dermaplaning is that it will make the hair on your face grow back darker and thicker. Dermaplaning will not cause the vellus (peachy fuzz) to grow back thicker or darker.
The treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes.
